Archbishop of Canterbury withdraws award from Muslim cleric after past Osama bin Laden praise surfaces

The Archbishop of Canterbury withdrew the Hubert Walter Award from Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi after past statements in which Ashrafi praised Osama bin Laden became public. Ashrafi had received the award at Lambeth Palace days before the statements surfaced. The award recognizes interfaith work and dialogue.
