ISIS-K militant sentenced to 20 years for supporting deadly 2021 Abbey Gate bombing

Mohammed Sharifullah was sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting to surveilling a route for the suicide bomber at Abbey Gate during the August 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal. The attack killed 13 U.S. service members and approximately 170 Afghan civilians. Sharifullah's role was to scout the location for the ISIS-K operative who carried out the bombing at Kabul airport's Abbey Gate.
