Rogers Pays $3.1 Billion to Buy Out Investor in NBA, NHL Teams

Rogers Communications Inc. agreed to purchase the remaining 25% stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. for C$4.35 billion from Kilmer Group, the investment vehicle of billionaire Larry Tanenbaum. The purchase gives Rogers full ownership of the company, which operates the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL team and the Toronto Raptors NBA team. The transaction was announced on December 20, 2024.
