The U.S. faces vulnerabilities in its GPS infrastructure as adversaries develop capabilities to spoof and jam signals. Department of Defense officials have assessed potential daily economic costs at $1 billion from disruptions to GPS-dependent systems. GPS is used in telecommunications, power grid operations, financial transactions, and transportation infrastructure. The vulnerabilities exist across both military and civilian applications of the technology.
