Bring Back the SAT, California
Monday, July 6, 2026
California's University of California system implemented a test-blind admissions policy that does not consider SAT or ACT scores in admissions decisions. According to data from UC system officials, the policy took effect in 2021. UC President Michael Drake and others in the system have stated that students are placed in courses without standardized test score data available to advisors. The UC system has continued to accept applications without requiring test scores as of 2024.
