U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Russia’s VTB Bank Over Ties to Iran

The U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on VTB Bank, a Russian financial institution already subject to earlier sanctions restrictions. The action was announced as part of what the Trump administration called Operation Economic Outcast. VTB Bank has operations in Iran, a country also under extensive U.S. sanctions.
