China Tells Panama to 'Uphold One China Principle' After Lawmakers Form Friendship Group with Taiwan

Panama's Foreign Ministry said on Monday that a group of Panamanian lawmakers formed a working group with Taiwanese legislators. China's Foreign Ministry responded by stating Panama must uphold the "One China Principle" to maintain diplomatic relations with Beijing. Panama established diplomatic ties with China in 2017, switching recognition from Taiwan to the People's Republic of China.
