How the Smithsonian Might Choose Its Next Leader

Lonnie G. Bunch III announced he is stepping down as secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. The position of secretary will be filled by presidential appointment. President Trump's administration will have the authority to nominate and appoint the next secretary, subject to confirmation by the Smithsonian Board of Regents.
