India Banks Slash Short-Term Debt Sales on Cheaper Forex Funding

Indian banks have reduced issuance of short-term debt securities following the Reserve Bank of India's efforts to attract foreign-currency deposits. The central bank's initiative has provided banks with an alternative funding source at lower cost. Banks have shifted preference toward the foreign-currency deposit channel over short-term debt markets as a result of the RBI's push.
