Europe’s Solar Boom Has a Storage Problem
Saturday, September 12, 2026
Solar became Europe's largest power source during summer months in 2025, according to Bloomberg. Government incentives, falling technology costs, and expanded installations across rooftops and utility-scale projects contributed to the growth. On sunny days, Europe produces more solar power than the grid can absorb, pushing wholesale electricity prices to zero or below. Bloomberg reported that industry experts attribute solutions to increased energy storage capacity, more flexible demand management, and grid improvements to distribute power from generation sites to consumption areas.
