Construction robots attack America's housing shortage, but we're a long way from humanoid homebuilders

Construction robots are being deployed in U.S. housing projects as the industry faces worker shortages and low inventory. The robots currently perform specific tasks such as bricklaying, framing, and site preparation, but have not yet replaced general construction work or completed homes independently. The National Association of Home Builders reported in 2025 that labor shortages remain a primary constraint on housing production across the country.
