Jay Maisel, a cigar-chomping giant of photography, has died

Jay Maisel, a photographer who documented Marilyn Monroe and took the cover photograph for Miles Davis's 1959 album "Kind of Blue," died at age 93. Maisel lived for 50 years in a converted bank building in New York City. His work appeared in major publications and advertising campaigns throughout his career.
