Canada Took In American Planes on 9/11. It Still Would Today.

On September 11, 2001, Gander, Newfoundland received 38 aircraft carrying approximately 6,600 passengers after U.S. airspace closed following the attacks on New York and Washington. The town's population of roughly 10,000 provided food, lodging, and transportation to the stranded travelers during the three-day closure. Canadian officials stated in 2026 that similar airspace protocols remain in place and would function identically in the event of another comparable incident.
