9/11 death toll keeps growing decades later as toxic exposure haunts survivors

Volunteer EMT Mordechai Shedrowitzky was diagnosed with a rare airway disease following exposure to dust at Ground Zero after the September 11, 2001 attacks, according to reporting on his case. Shedrowitzky underwent multiple hospitalizations and steroid treatments related to the diagnosis. The New York City medical examiner's office has added deaths attributed to World Trade Center-related illnesses to the official death toll from the attacks in the years since 2001.
