Exhausted by Iran War, Tehran Transforms for Khamenei’s Funeral

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, died on July 4, 2024, at age 84. The Iranian government announced plans for a state funeral in Tehran. Government officials organized events across the capital in response to his death. Iran's constitution provides for the appointment of a successor supreme leader by the Assembly of Experts.
