A huge 11th-century tapestry of the Norman Conquest has (carefully) traveled to England

The Bayeux Tapestry, a 230-foot textile from the 11th century depicting the 1066 Battle of Hastings, arrived in England for the first time in 900 years. The tapestry, which shows the Norman Conquest and the end of Anglo-Saxon rule, had been housed in Bayeux, France since the Middle Ages. The loan marked the first time the artifact left France for an extended exhibition.
