Democrat’s ad about tragic pregnancy injects abortion into tight governor’s race

Texas state Senator Gina Hinojosa released a campaign advertisement about her decision to carry a pregnancy to term after a prenatal diagnosis of a fatal genetic condition. Texas law currently prohibits abortion after six weeks of pregnancy with limited exceptions that do not include fetal abnormalities. Hinojosa is running for governor in 2026.
