Dem incumbent becomes first sitting governor to lose primary since 2018

Governor Dan McKee lost the Rhode Island Democratic primary to Helena Foulkes, a Costco board member and former CVS executive. Foulkes had previously lost to McKee in 2022 by a narrow margin. McKee's defeat makes him the first sitting governor to lose a party primary since 2018.
