Google's AI genome system evaluates every possible one-base change

Google researchers created an AI system that evaluated the effects of single-letter changes across the human genome, according to a study published in 2024. The system assessed how each of approximately 3 billion possible one-base variations might affect protein function. Researchers found that most single-letter changes have minimal impact, while a smaller subset produce significant effects on human health and biology.
