Toxic PFAS Cleanups at Military Sites Face Decades of Delay

The Pentagon postponed cleanup of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at hundreds of military sites, with some cleanups delayed to 2045, according to a Pentagon announcement. The delays prompted lawmakers from both parties to express concern. PFAS contamination has been detected at numerous military installations where firefighting foam containing the chemicals was used during training exercises.
