Brent Oil Hits $100 as US-Iran War Shows Little Sign of Abating | The Opening Trade 9/9/2026
Wednesday, September 9, 2026
Brent oil topped $100 a barrel for the first time since July 2026. The US military destroyed five Iranian tankers carrying crude in response to ballistic missile attacks on a US Navy warship, according to Central Command. The conflict between the US and Iran began in February 2026 and has disrupted some flows through the Strait of Hormuz. Chinese oil buying also contributed to the price increase.
