Posen Says Bessent's 'Posturing' on Yen Is Ill-Advised

Adam Posen, president of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's approach to the yen is "a bad policy" in an interview with Bloomberg Television. Posen cited former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin's position that "a strong dollar is in the US interest," a principle he said previous Treasury officials have followed. Bessent had challenged traders to test his resolve on boosting the yen.
