Hong Kong's first leader after British handover dies

Tung Chee-hwa, who served as Hong Kong's chief executive from 1997 to 2005 following the British handover to China, has died. His administration oversaw the territory during the 1997–1998 Asian financial crisis and faced public protests during his time in office. Tung was appointed to lead Hong Kong under the "one country, two systems" framework established in the handover agreement.
