Yen Rally Erodes Japan Corporate Buffers, Raises Earnings Risks

Japanese companies' earnings projections are becoming outdated as the yen strengthened beyond the exchange rates many of them used in their forecasts. The stronger currency erodes profits that Japanese exporters earn when converting foreign revenues back to yen. Some investors are shifting toward stocks of companies that rely more on domestic demand and are less exposed to currency fluctuations.
