Ex-Dem lobbyist for company that promoted addictive opioid clears key gubernatorial hurdle

Cinde Warmington secured the Democratic nomination for New Hampshire governor after winning the primary election. Warmington previously worked as a lobbyist for Purdue Pharma, the pharmaceutical company that manufactured OxyContin. During the campaign, opponents raised her legal work on behalf of the company as a point of contention. Purdue Pharma filed for bankruptcy in 2019 and agreed to a settlement with state and federal authorities over the marketing and distribution of opioids.
