Tung Chee-hwa, the first Chief Executive of Hong Kong after the territory's 1997 handover from British to Chinese rule, died at age 89. Tung served as Chief Executive from 1997 to 2005. He previously worked in shipping and was appointed to the role by Beijing following the handover.
