Twenty-five years after the September 11, 2001 attacks, memorials and observances continue at the World Trade Center site in New York City. The National September 11 Memorial and Museum remains open to the public at the location where the Twin Towers stood. Annual ceremonies occur on September 11 to commemorate the 2,977 people who died in the attacks.
