Trey McKinney says Bassmaster veterans made him earn their respect before historic AOY season

Trey McKinney broke Kevin VanDam's 1992 record as the youngest Bassmaster Angler of the Year. McKinney said veteran Elite Series anglers required him to demonstrate his capabilities before accepting him as a peer. VanDam held the previous record for youngest AOY winner at the time he earned the title in 1992.
