Roger Marshall Sued 700 Patients for Debts; 81 Were Arrested. Now He’s a Senator.

Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, a physician before his election, sued approximately 700 patients for medical debts while operating a medical practice, according to reporting by The New York Times. The Times reported that patients were charged 18 percent interest on debts and some had bank accounts garnished. Approximately 81 patients were arrested in connection with these debt collection cases, the Times reported. Marshall was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2020.
