Rome ramps up security around Colosseum with new ‘red zone’ targeting criminals

Rome established a restricted security zone around the Colosseum following a violent July 1 incident involving approximately 50 people. The red zone designation restricts access and increases police presence in the area. The measure was implemented to address reports of theft and public disorder near the archaeological site.
