Europe has its first commercial orbital rocket

Sunday, September 6, 2026

Isar Aerospace, a German company, successfully launched Spectrum, a two-stage rocket, into low Earth orbit from a Norwegian spaceport. The company had attempted a previous launch in March that ended in failure 30 seconds after liftoff when the vehicle crashed into the sea. Spectrum is classified as Europe's first entirely commercial orbital rocket.
