Medical First: Man Lives for 9 Months with Pig Kidney While Waiting for Human Donor

Tim Andrews lived with a genetically modified pig kidney for 271 days before receiving a human kidney transplant in January, according to a paper published Thursday in the Lancet. Andrews had been waiting for a human donor kidney while using the pig kidney as a temporary transplant.
