Heat exceeds 40C in parts of Europe - is a September heatwave in store for the UK?

Parts of central and southern Europe recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius this week. The UK Met Office has not issued a heatwave warning for the United Kingdom as of the date of this report.
