WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert to retire at end of calendar year, ending controversial tenure

Cathy Engelbert is retiring as WNBA Commissioner at the end of 2026. Engelbert has served as commissioner since 2019, becoming the first woman to hold the position in the league's history. The WNBA Board of Governors will begin a search for her successor.
