Previously Unidentified Original Declaration of Independence Discovered in UK Royal Navy Archives

A copy of the Declaration of Independence, seized from an American privateer by a Royal Navy warship on December 24, 1776, has been found in UK Royal Navy archives. The document was captured during a naval engagement between the American vessel and British forces. The discovery adds to the known number of surviving copies of the Declaration from the period following its adoption on July 4, 1776.
