Steve Ballmer got suspended by the NBA because of a podcast and a jumbotron corruption scandal
Thursday, September 3, 2026
Steve Ballmer, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, was suspended by the NBA for one year, and the team was ordered to forfeit five draft picks, according to an NBA announcement. The suspension and penalty followed an investigation into a $28 million endorsement agreement involving player Kawhi Leonard that the league determined did not involve actual endorsement work. Ballmer had stated in an ESPN interview in September that the Clippers were not involved in the arrangement.
