President Will Signal Nuclear Aims Over If He Ends War, Says Former National Intelligence Official
Thursday, September 3, 2026
Retired Lieutenant General Karen Gibson, former Deputy Director of National Intelligence, stated that if President Trump declares an end to hostilities with Iran, it would indicate abandonment of the war's objectives, including restrictions on Iran's nuclear program. Gibson said that without the US abandoning its economic measures against Iran, a declaration of war's end would be unlikely to result in Iran removing its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Bloomberg.
