Maduro claims immunity, asks judge to dismiss drug-trafficking charges against him and his wife

Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores filed a federal motion requesting dismissal of narco-terrorism and drug trafficking charges, claiming sovereign immunity as sitting head of state and first lady of Venezuela. The motion was filed in U.S. federal court. The charges against Maduro, Flores, and others have been pending in the U.S. justice system for several years.
