Hundreds of North Sea workers too heavy for new helicopter rules

The Civil Aviation Authority updated helicopter passenger weight limits for North Sea oil and gas operations, requiring workers to weigh no more than 19.5 stone when fully clothed to meet emergency evacuation requirements. The new standard applies to winch rescue procedures used when workers need to be lifted from platforms or vessels. Hundreds of workers currently exceed this threshold, according to the report.
