MapQuest is now the No. 1 U.S. app after bucking Trump’s ‘Lake America’ renaming

MapQuest became the top-ranked app on Apple's U.S. App Store in 2026 after declining to rename a geographic feature to "Lake America" following a Trump administration directive. The app received more than half of its annual U.S. downloads within six days of this decision, according to Apple's App Store rankings. Other mapping applications had adopted the renamed designation.
