Spanberger's ICE restrictions dealt major setback as judge warns other blue states

A federal judge blocked a provision of Governor Abigail Spanberger's law that restricted local law enforcement participation in the federal 287(g) program, which allows cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The judge's decision followed a legal challenge to the Virginia law. Spanberger, a Democrat, had signed the legislation in 2025.
