Elon Musk’s heterodox robotaxi philosophy gets put to the test

Tesla began offering public robotaxi rides in Austin, Texas using its Cybercab vehicles, which feature gull-wing doors and no steering wheel. Tesla CEO Elon Musk first announced the Cybercab design nearly two years prior. The service represents Tesla's effort to deploy autonomous vehicles for commercial ride-hailing operations.
