Democrat establishment flexes dominance as insurgents fall and GOP bench thins in deep blue stronghold

Massachusetts held a primary election in which incumbent Senator Ed Markey defeated Representative Seth Moulton. Markey, 80, and Moulton, who had called for Democratic leadership to "pass the torch," competed for the Democratic Senate nomination. The winner will face the Republican general election opponent.
