Wednesday, September 2, 2026
Ben Powell, managing director at BlackRock Investment Institute, stated that Gulf Cooperation Council states expect to deploy 2.1 trillion dollars in capital expenditures by the end of the decade across infrastructure, artificial intelligence, energy, and security sectors. Powell told Horizons Middle East and Africa that regional capital deployment is expected to increase domestically as GCC nations seek to reduce reliance on strategic vulnerabilities. The projected investment spans multiple economic sectors within the six-member bloc of Gulf states.
