Bessent’s Bond Gains Wiped Out as 30-Year Yields Jump Once Again

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced an expansion of the government bond buyback program in the previous month. The yield on 30-year US Treasury bonds has since returned to levels preceding that announcement. The buyback program was intended to reduce long-term borrowing costs.
