Iran has stated it wants to charge a toll for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal remains unresolved in ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations. The Strait of Hormuz is a waterway between Iran and Oman through which approximately one-third of global seaborne oil passes.
