CDC reported then deleted two measles deaths that were questioned by RFK Jr.

Tuesday, September 1, 2026

The CDC reported two measles deaths in January 2026, then removed them from its database after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. questioned their classification. State health departments retain authority to classify and confirm disease cases and deaths, not the CDC. The CDC did not publicly explain the removal at the time it occurred.
