Norway's Haakon takes oath as mourners pay respects to late King

Crown Prince Haakon took the oath as King of Norway on January 17, 2026, at the Norwegian Parliament, following the death of his father King Harald V on January 10, 2026. King Harald's body lay in state at the Royal Palace during the period leading up to Haakon's formal assumption of the throne. Haakon is Norway's new reigning monarch.
