We survived the Aberfan disaster as schoolchildren, but were told to never talk about it again

On the morning of October 21, 1966, a coal tip collapsed in Aberfan, Wales, killing 116 children and 28 adults. The disaster occurred at Pantglas Junior School when an unstable slag heap from a nearby colliery slid down the mountainside. Survivors and bereaved families were among those affected by the incident in the village of Aberfan.
