Haitian immigrant in Ohio takes his own life after losing temporary protected status, family says

Pierre Damas Bel, a Haitian immigrant in Ohio, died by suicide after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed an ankle monitor on him, his family reported. The Trump administration had canceled temporary protected status for Haitian immigrants, a designation that had allowed him to work legally in the United States.
